Full Tour Details

Day 1: Arrival in Arusha

Arrival & Safari Briefing

Welcome to Tanzania! You will be met at Kilimanjaro International Airport and transferred to a family-friendly lodge in Arusha. The lodge will have amenities like a swimming pool and open areas where the kids can play. After settling in, we’ll have a short safari briefing with your guide, focusing on family-friendly tips and the day’s schedule. In the evening, we’ll enjoy a relaxed dinner at the lodge, giving the kids a chance to unwind. Meals: Dinner. Overnight: Arusha.

Day 2: Tarangire National Park

Tarangire Game Drive

After breakfast, we’ll head out for a game drive in Tarangire National Park. The drive from Arusha to Tarangire is relatively short, so we’ll leave early and return in the afternoon. We’ll spend a few hours exploring the park, focusing on spotting elephants, giraffes, and zebras – some of the most popular animals with kids. The Tarangire River is a great place to see hippos and crocodiles. We’ll have a picnic lunch in the bush. After the game drive, we’ll return to our lodge in Karatu, where the kids can enjoy the pool or play area. We’ll have dinner at the lodge and then relax. Meals: B/L/D. Overnight: Karatu.

Day 3: Cultural Fun & Ngorongoro Highlands

Cultural Visit & Ngorongoro Highlands

We’ll visit Mto wa Mbu village for a guided cultural tour. This is a great opportunity for the kids to experience local life and interact with the community. We’ll meet Maasai people, see their traditional huts, and perhaps even have a chance to try on a Maasai warrior’s outfit or dance with them. The children will love learning about Maasai culture, from their unique dress to their traditional way of life. After the village visit, we’ll continue our journey to the Ngorongoro highlands. We’ll drive through beautiful scenery and arrive at our lodge in Karatu in the afternoon. The rest of the day is yours to relax. We’ll have dinner at the lodge and the kids can enjoy any recreational activities offered. Meals: B/L/D. Overnight: Karatu.

Day 4: Ngorongoro Crater

Ngorongoro Crater Game Drive

We’ll start early and drive to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. We’ll descend into the crater floor for a 5-hour game drive. The enclosed nature of the crater makes wildlife spotting easier and more exciting for kids. We’ll look for the “Big Five” and other animals, and the kids will be thrilled to see lions, elephants, and maybe even a rhino. We’ll have a picnic lunch by the hippo pool. As we drive around the crater, we’ll point out different habitats and animals, making it an educational experience. After our game drive, we’ll return to our lodge. We’ll have dinner and then the kids can enjoy a movie or play some games at the lodge. Meals: B/L/D. Overnight: Karatu.

Day 5: Journey to the Serengeti

Journey to the Serengeti

We’ll drive to the Serengeti, stopping at Olduvai Gorge Museum on the way. Olduvai Gorge is known as the “Cradle of Mankind” and is famous for the discovery of some of the earliest human fossils. The kids will love learning about the history of human evolution in this unique place. After the museum, we’ll continue our drive to the Serengeti. We’ll arrive in the afternoon and check into a family-friendly lodge or camp in the Central Serengeti. In the evening, we’ll have a campfire dinner and maybe a storytelling session around the fire – a wonderful way to end the day. Meals: B/L/D. Overnight: Serengeti Family Lodge/Camp.

Day 6: Full Day Serengeti Fun

Serengeti Game Drive

Today we’ll have a full day of game drives in the Serengeti. Our guide will tailor the day to the family’s interests, perhaps focusing on a lion pride or a hippo pool. The kids will be on the lookout for any animals they’ve been hoping to see. We’ll have packed lunches in the bush. In the afternoon, we’ll return to the lodge for an afternoon swim in the pool or a game of volleyball – a chance for the family to relax. We’ll have dinner at the lodge and then maybe a movie under the stars. Meals: B/L/D. Overnight: Serengeti.

Day 7: Fly from Serengeti to Arusha & Depart

Departure

After a final morning game drive, we’ll transfer to the Seronera Airstrip for a scenic flight back to Arusha. This avoids a long drive back, making the last day easier for children. We’ll land in Arusha and then transfer you to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your departure.
