Day 1: Arrival in Arusha

Arrival & Safari Briefing

Welcome to Tanzania! Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you’ll be met by our representative and transferred to your hotel in Arusha. The afternoon is free for you to rest and adjust to the time zone. In the evening, we’ll gather for a detailed safari briefing with your guide, covering everything from park rules and safety to the itinerary for the next few days. After a delicious dinner, you’ll have a good night’s sleep in Arusha. Meals: Dinner. Overnight: Arusha

Day 2: Tarangire National Park Game Drive

After breakfast, we embark on our first safari game drive of the trip. We’ll drive to Tarangire National Park, famous for its huge herds of elephants and iconic baobab trees. The drive offers a great chance to spot wildlife along the way. Once in Tarangire, we’ll spend the full day exploring the park, searching for elephants, lions, giraffes, and the park’s abundant bird species. The Tarangire River is a magnet for wildlife, so we’ll keep an eye out for hippos and crocodiles in the water. As the day winds down, we’ll return to our lodge in Karatu for dinner and an early rest. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner. Overnight: Karatu.

Day 3: To the Serengeti Plains

Journey to the Serengeti

After breakfast, we set off on the scenic drive towards the Serengeti National Park. The name “Serengeti” means “endless plains” in the Maasai language, and you’ll quickly understand why as you enter this vast ecosystem. We’ll enjoy a game drive en route, stopping to observe any wildlife we encounter along the way. As we approach the Serengeti, the landscape transforms into open savannah dotted with acacia trees. In the afternoon, we’ll reach our accommodation in the Central Serengeti – either a tented camp or a lodge. The rest of the day is yours to relax and enjoy the surroundings. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner. Overnight: Central Serengeti Tented Camp/Lodge.

Day 4: Full Day in the Serengeti

Serengeti Game Drive

Today we’ll spend the entire day exploring the heart of the Serengeti. Our experienced guide will use their expertise to track predators like lions, leopards, and cheetahs, as well as vast herds of wildebeest and zebra that are a hallmark of the Serengeti. We’ll likely encounter the annual Great Wildebeest Migration (if visiting during the migration season) – witness the herds crossing rivers and moving across the plains. The Serengeti offers endless opportunities for wildlife viewing, and we’ll make sure to maximize your chances of seeing the “Big Five” and other incredible creatures. We’ll have a packed lunch in the bush, a unique experience surrounded by nature. As evening falls, we’ll return to camp for dinner and a well-deserved rest. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner. Overnight: Central Serengeti.

Day 5: Serengeti to Ngorongoro Highlands

After a final morning game drive in the Serengeti, we’ll begin our journey to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. We’ll drive through the western Serengeti, perhaps making a stop at a scenic viewpoint or an interesting wildlife sighting. In the afternoon, we’ll reach the rim of the Ngorongoro Crater. The crater is visible from a distance, a massive, bowl-shaped caldera that seems like a world of its own. We’ll check into our lodge on the crater rim, which offers spectacular views of the caldera below. As evening approaches, you can relax and enjoy the view, maybe with a glass of wine or a drink. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner. Overnight: Ngorongoro Crater Rim Lodge.

Day 6: Ngorongoro Crater Game Drive

Today is a highlight of the trip – we’ll descend into the Ngorongoro Crater for a full-day game drive. Early in the morning, we’ll drive down the crater rim and enter the crater floor, a lush, green paradise teeming with wildlife. This is your best chance to spot the endangered black rhino, which finds sanctuary in the crater. We’ll also keep an eye out for all the other members of the Big Five, as well as hippos, zebras, antelopes, and more. The crater’s enclosed nature means wildlife is often easier to spot and more concentrated. We’ll have a picnic lunch by the hippo pool, a truly unique experience. In the late afternoon, we’ll head back up the crater rim and return to our lodge. The rest of the evening is yours to unwind. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner. Overnight: Karatu.

Day 7: Lake Manyara & Departure

Lake Manyara & Departure

On our final day, we’ll drive to Lake Manyara National Park, located just a short distance from Arusha. Lake Manyara is famous for its tree-climbing lions and the stunning sight of pink flamingos on the lake’s shores. We’ll have a morning game drive in the park, exploring its diverse habitats – from the soda lake to the forested slopes. You might see elephants, giraffes, and of course, the unique tree-climbing lions that have made this park world-famous. After our game drive, we’ll head back to Arusha.
