Full Tour Details

Day 1: Arrival in Arusha
Arrival & Briefing

Welcome to Tanzania! You will be met at Kilimanjaro International Airport and transferred to your hotel in Arusha. After settling in, we’ll have a detailed briefing with your specialist photo guide. We’ll discuss your photography goals, equipment, and any specific shots you’d like to capture. This is a chance to plan out the trip and make sure we’re all on the same page. The rest of the day is yours to rest or explore Arusha. In the evening, we’ll enjoy a dinner at the hotel. Meals: Dinner. Overnight: Arusha.

Day 2-3: Tarangire's Textures and Giants
Tarangire National Park

We’ll drive to Tarangire National Park for a two-night stay. Tarangire is an excellent location for photography, with its unique landscape of baobab trees and wide-open plains. We’ll focus on the early morning and late afternoon light, which is ideal for capturing dramatic silhouettes and rich colors. In the morning, we’ll head out on a game drive to photograph elephants, lions, and giraffes against the backdrop of the baobabs. The golden hour light will give your images a warm, magical quality. We’ll spend extensive time at each sighting, waiting for the perfect moment. During mid-day, we’ll return to camp for lunch and give your camera equipment a break. We’ll have some time to review and edit your photos if you’d like. In the late afternoon, we’ll go out again for another game drive, this time capturing the sunset over Tarangire. We’ll have a picnic dinner in the bush if time allows, which can make for great sunset photography. Meals: B/L/D. Overnight: Tarangire.

Day 4: Ngorongoro's Dramatic Scenery
Ngorongoro Crater Rim

We’ll drive to the Ngorongoro Crater Rim. The afternoon will be spent photographing the stunning views from the rim as the light changes over the caldera. We’ll capture the dramatic contrast of the crater floor against the bright sky. We’ll also look for any wildlife visible from the rim – sometimes you can see herds of animals in the distance. We’ll have a picnic dinner in the bush at the crater rim, with the sun setting over the crater. It’s a beautiful and peaceful way to end the day. Meals: B/L/D. Overnight: Ngorongoro Crater Rim.

Day 5: Full Day in the Crater
Ngorongoro Crater Game Drive

A full-day permit for the crater allows for an early descent and late ascent, maximizing photographic opportunities from sunrise to sunset. We’ll wake up early and descend into the crater floor. We’ll spend the entire day exploring the crater, focusing on wildlife portraits and action shots in this unique environment. We’ll use the early morning light to capture the animals as they start their day. We’ll spend extended time at key spots, like the hippo pool and near the crater walls, waiting for the perfect moment to photograph the “Big Five” and other species. Our guide will position the vehicle to get the best lighting and angles. We’ll have a picnic lunch in the bush, perhaps near a waterhole, which can provide great wildlife photography. As the day progresses, we’ll use the late afternoon light to capture the animals in the golden glow. We’ll return to the rim in the evening. Meals: B/L/D. Overnight: Ngorongoro Crater Rim.

Day 6-8: The Serengeti's Endless Opportunities
Serengeti National Park

We’ll drive to the Serengeti for a three-night stay. Days will be structured around light: early morning and late afternoon game drives, and mid-day rest or editing time. We’ll spend extensive time tracking predators, capturing animal interactions, and shooting classic Serengeti landscapes. Your guide will ensure optimal vehicle positioning for composition and light. For example, if we’re photographing a pride of lions, we’ll position the vehicle so that the light is coming from behind or to the side, creating depth and texture. We’ll also take advantage of the vast open spaces to get wide-angle shots of the plains. During mid-day, we’ll return to camp for lunch and give you time to review and edit your photos. We’ll also have some evening sessions if we find a good location, like a dramatic sky or a beautiful tree. Each evening, we’ll have a campfire dinner in the bush, which can be a great time to reflect on the day’s photos and plan for the next day. Meals: B/L/D. Overnight: Central Serengeti.

Day 9: Final Shots & Departure
Final Game Drive & Departure

On our final day, we’ll have one last early morning game drive to capture the Serengeti waking up. We’ll look for the first light of dawn and the animals going about their morning routines. After this, we’ll return to camp for breakfast. We’ll then drive to the Seronera airstrip for your flight to Arusha. We’ll have lunch in Arusha and then transfer you to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your departure. We hope you’ve had an amazing photography safari – tanzania-northern-safari-tours wishes you safe travels and many beautiful memories captured in Tanzania. Meals: B.
